Katie Berta is the author of the poetry collection retribution forthcoming, from Ohio University Press, which won the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, The Kenyon Review, The Cincinnati Review, Denver Quarterly, The Iowa Review, Black Warrior Review, The Yale Review, Blackbird, The Massachusetts Review, West Branch, The Rumpus, and Sixth Finch, among other magazines. You can find her book reviews in The Los Angeles Review of Books, American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, West Branch, Harvard Review, and elsewhere. She has presented her scholarly work at the American Literature Association conference, and in Women’s Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal and the Emily Dickinson International Society Bulletin. She has received residencies from Millay Arts, Ragdale, and The Hambidge Center, fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center and the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing, and an Iowa Review Award. She received a PhD in Creative Writing from Ohio University and an MFA from Arizona State University. She lives in Tempe, Arizona, where she works as the managing editor of The Iowa Review and teaches literary publishing at the University of Iowa and poetry at Arizona State University.
